About us

Built around what actually goes wrong here

A service list written for anywhere tends to miss the things that matter in a specific valley. Ours was written for this one.

Why gas and water together

In a Utah home the two sides are tangled. The water heater is a gas appliance. Radiant floor heat runs off a gas boiler. A basement finish means drains, supply, and often a gas line for a fireplace in the same project. Hard water shortens the life of the same water heater the gas side maintains.

Splitting those between two contractors creates a seam, and seams are where responsibility goes to disappear. Running both means we can test across the boundary and give you one answer — including the answer that the problem belongs to a trade we don't practise.

The five local facts

  • WaterAmong the hardest in the country — scale is the default, not the exception
  • BasementsUsually unfinished and usually stubbed, but rarely where the plans say
  • FreezeHard freezes every winter; irrigation must be emptied, not just drained
  • ElevationAbout 4,500 feet, which some gas appliances require adjustment for
  • FaultThe Wasatch Fault runs the east bench, which makes seismic shutoffs a live question
5Star Plumbing Gas seal

On the seal

A flame and a droplet over the Wasatch range: the two sides of the work and the valley they're done in. The five points along the base are the five stars in our name.

Operating principles

Four things we hold to

01

Diagnose, then quote

No number written from a phone description where the cause is unknown.

02

Offer the smaller fix

Clean the thermopile before selling the valve. Find the stub before cutting concrete.

03

Permit as standard

Gas work is permitted and inspected. That step is the point, not paperwork.

04

Name the boundary

Utility, provider, other trades — said plainly, with a referral where we have one.

Claims we won't make

That a seismic valve detects gas leaks. That a water softener improves taste. That a salt-free conditioner does what a softener does. That radiant heat can be retrofitted into any finished room cheaply. That a tune-up prevents all failures. That we know your water provider's or the city's requirements better than they do.

Each of those is a routine sales line in these trades, and each is either wrong or not ours to promise.

Coverage

Orem and Utah Valley

We work from University Parkway in Orem, covering Utah Valley from American Fork down through Spanish Fork. Season shapes our schedule far more than distance: autumn brings winterization and fireplace work, the first cold snap brings no-heat calls, and summer is when basements get finished.

About the company

Frequently asked

01Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, in the State of Utah. Gas piping work is permitted and inspected on our jobs as standard. Backflow assembly testing requires a separate tester certification on top of plumbing licensure — ask us to confirm it when booking that service, and ask any other contractor the same.

02What don't you do?

Gas utility emergency response, chimney and flue relining, appliance repair beyond the gas connection, electrical work beyond our own equipment, concrete finishing and floor levelling, landscaping and irrigation redesign, waterproofing, and structural work. We hit all of these regularly and name them rather than stretching scope.

03Do you guarantee your work?

We stand behind our workmanship and return if something we did isn't right. Equipment carries its own manufacturer warranty whose terms we'll quote accurately rather than round up. On diagnostics we're honest about limits — some intermittent faults take more than one visit to isolate, and we'd rather say that upfront.

04How do I know a recommendation isn't an upsell?

The practical test is whether a contractor ever tells you a problem is smaller than you feared. We clean a thermopile before selling a valve, look for a stub before quoting concrete work, and explain what a seismic valve doesn't do before quoting one. Judge us on that.

05Why the focus on Utah-specific issues?

Because they're the ones that actually recur here — hard water, unfinished basements, freeze cycles, elevation effects on gas appliances, and the fault line. A generic service list written for anywhere tends to miss the things that matter in this valley, and those are precisely where a homeowner is most likely to be sold the wrong thing.
